CPNI (Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure) provides protective security advice and assures a wide range or physical security products for use on the UK’s critical national infrastructure (CNI). For approval, the products are tested for a long period of time under stringent criteria.
A high-profile museum project in Seattle, WA included IP camera surveillance for interior and exterior common spaces, perimeter security, access control and alarm monitoring. An outdoor architectural/ art piece was developed as a fence line with plants surrounding the art. The alarm monitoring scope of work required perimeter protection for the garden areas.
The perimeter security requirements for critical sites are changing. No longer are a chain-link fences considered adequate for all critical applications. Sophisticated intruders and saboteurs created the need for much more formidable fences that can intelligently detect intruders. Further, there is a desire to integrate the perimeter security components into a complete solution that incorporates all aspects of the customer’s security requirements. Based on this trend, Fiber SenSys, Inc. (FSI) performance tested our Fiber Defender® sensor with the Ameristar Impasse II fence platform, one of the leading high security fences in the United States.
LOUISVILLE, Ky., September 14, 2015 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced that its Vindicator® security platform now integrates with Fiber SenSys, Inc.’s fence-mounted fiber optic sensor system. The integration creates an easy-to-install solution that keeps critical infrastructure locations safe and secure.
Honeywell Vindicator V5/V3 controllers and the XML version of the Fiber SenSys system provide a modular, scalable solution that adds value through increased capability and cost reduction derived from intelligent TCP/IP communications.
“Critical infrastructure customers have a particularly strong need for solutions that reduce cost and streamline site management,” said Angela Oberman, Senior Channel Manager, Honeywell. “This heightened demand creates the impetus to merge systems like Fiber SenSys with Vindicator to form smart systems. The interoperability allows us to meet or exceed our customers’ needs while maintaining a competitive price.”
The solution reduces the time needed to integrate and install Fiber SenSys sensors with Honeywell Vindicator security systems.
“We see many synergies here between both companies,” said Bill Evenson, Vice President, Fiber SenSys. “We often find Honeywell Vindicator products being deployed at the same sites as Fiber SenSys. This intelligent integration between our product lines empowers our shared customers to make an easy decision on the types of technology used to secure their site.”
