Management Team
Edward Tapanes – President and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technical Officer: Ed Tapanes joined Fiber SenSys in October 2010. He has over twenty four years' experience in development and practical application of fiber optic sensing systems. Ed was a pioneer, and made significant contributions to major breakthroughs, in fiber optic based security systems, in particular the development of long-range (35+ miles) detection systems, the ability to "locate" an intrusion event anywhere along the protected path and the development of sophisticated signal processing to eliminate environmental noise. Several patents have been awarded for these developments. Mr. Tapanes received a Bachelor's degree in Math and Physics from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Masters in Aerospace Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Duane Thompson – Director of Americas Sales: Duane Thompson has been an integral part of Fiber SenSys since joining the company in 1994. His roles have included Applications Engineer, Sales Manager and General Manager. Prior to Fiber SenSys, he worked in the Engineering Department of GE Security. Mr. Thompson is an Electrical Engineer and attended the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

Jim Boehlke – Chief Financial Officer: Jim Boehlke has over thirty years of broad financial experience, including as CFO at start-up and closely held ventures and as Director of Budget, Financial Analysis, Tax and Investor Relations over a 17 year career at a public utility. Mr. Boehlke is a CPA and has a law degree from Drake University.

Kazuo Ikeda – Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer: Kazuo (Kaz) Ikeda joined Fiber SenSys in November 2010. Kaz brings over 6 years of business development and planning expertise in the security industry as well as 17+ years financial and business management experience. Mr. Ikeda has a Masters of Business Administration from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree in Law from Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. His vast knowledge and capabilities will benefit Fiber SenSys by bringing new technology to market with fresh sales strategies and business models specific to intrusion detection products and software.
